Vermeer Parts Distribution Center introduced high-density automated storage through four pre-owned Remstar/Raymond horizontal carousels and control software from ATI Corporation. Two pods of two units each provide the pulling power to clear Vermeer’s orders in record time. Two operators pick parts representing over 6,000 of the fastest moving items in round robin fashion utilizing inventory software developed by Automated Warehousing in conjunction with ATI.

Orders are fed directly to the carousel operator from the host order input software so they appear on screen sorted by urgency, destination and mode of shipment. At different times of the day orders are grouped using different criteria to optimize the shipping schedule.
